Top 4 Strikers Who Can Partner Giroud At Arsenal – Including Balotelli and Benzema

Share

There is no doubt that Arsenal need a quality striker up front  as manager Arsene Wenger has stressed that the Gunners need to take pressure off Olivier Giroud in leading the line at the Emirates. The Gunners were in control of the Premier League title race but wayward results after a latent January Transfer window saw them vanquished in a race with Everton for the fourth place in the standings and the final Champions League position. While Wenger is busy in Brazil where the world Cup carnival continues, we take a look at four top quality strikers who Arsenal can target in the coming summer transfer window.

1. Karim Benzema:

Benzema

The Frenchman is having a terrific World Cup after a great season for Real Madrid. The Champions League winners are now linked with a shock swoop for Monaco’s Radamel Falcao, this may force Benzema to leave the Spanish capital. Benzema would be certainly a quality signing for Arsenal who can simply change any game on its head with his deadly finishing prowess. His French connections with Giroud will enable him to form a formidable striking partnership up front.

2. Mario Mandzukic:

One player whose career is certainly over at Bayern Munich is Mario Mandzukic who maintained that his differences with Pep Guardiola means he has no future at Bavaria. The Croatian had a brilliant season for the Allianz arena side scoring 21 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 41 appearances but claimed that he doesn’t feature in Guardiola’s system. With Robert Lewandowski set to join the 2013 Champions League winners, Mandzukic will look to head out to pursue his career elsewhere. Moving to Arsenal will be mutually beneficial for both  Club and the player.

3. Mario Balotelli:

Mario Balotelli

After AC Milan had labeled the controversial Italian Genius as not irreplaceable, it appears that Balotelli could well return to the Premier League. His agent Mino Raiola had earlier claimed that Arsenal are one of the very few clubs who can afford to acquire the services of his client. Wenger had earlier squashed reports linking the former Manchester City striker but it now appears that Balotelli is definitely set to leave Italian shores in the summer after Cesar Prandelli accused the 23 year old not giving his best in the World Cup as the four time Champions crashed out in the group stages. Balotelli won’t come cheap though.

4. Wilfried Bony:

As Swansea City have completed the signing of Gomis from French side Lyon, it appears that Wilfried Bony’s future at the Liberty stadium remains uncertain. Bony had a great 2013-14 Premier League season for the Welsh side and the 25 year old carried his form into the World Cup scoring two goals for his country Ivory Coast in the group stages. The player’s agent had recently commented that his client would like to move to a top club in the summer which would give Arsenal hope of securing the services of the former Vitesse Arnhem forward. Bony is immensely powerful in the air, possess a great work ethic and most importantly is a much better finisher than Olivier Grioud. No doubt he would be handy for the Gunners but the London club should go for him only as a last option.
