Top 3 Strikers Tottenham Should Target In January Including The Leicester City Hitman

Share

Tottenham have amassed a good unbeaten run of 11 games so far in the PL and blowing away this start in the latter half of the season would result in missing out on a top 4 spot. This season Kane did take a while to rediscover his scoring form that made him such a sensation last season. Touchwood nothing happens to him but there is a possibility of him falling into another dry patch or getting injured or fatigue issues due to being over used as he is the only out and out striker in the squad. Therefore the North Londoners should look at options for back up strikers.

Jamie Vardy:

The England and Leicester City man has been in superb form this season, scoring in 9 consecutive games so far matching Rudd Van Nistelrooy’s record. The player will be costly and should cost easily about 20M but will be a great back up option but seems quite ridiculous that Vardy would settle for a back up spot and also Spurs shelling so much cash for a back up striker too. Yet, surely a player that has to be on their radar.

Luuk De Jong:

The Dutchman experienced couple of bad years since he first came into the spotlight and injuries really did not help his case. His first outing in the PL with Newcastle was a horror show, but who has performed to their potential at Newcastle in recent times barring Sissokho? Again, he may not settle for a back up role in the squad right when he has the chance to grab the lead striker role for Nederland’s with regular football. But the attraction of the PL could play a key role in bagging the player for Spurs. Hardworking, team player and good finisher cum poacher he is quite similar to Kane in terms of playing style.

Odion Ighalo:

So far scoring 7 goals, the Nigerian has been on song for Watford in the PL this season. Surely a player who will want to make a move to a bigger club and will not mind playing cup games and as a back up striker. Not exactly a proven goal scorer in the PL but with better service he will receive at Spurs, he could very well be a good striker option to have in the squad.

January will be a key period on and off the pitch for Spurs. And to keep the good run going after January, the back up has to be bought. Son and N’Jie are available but both are primarily wingers who can play both as attacking mids or false 9s. An out and out striker to back Kane up is essential and adding another attacking option to the squad is much needed to keep a good cup run and challenging for Top 4.
