Three Reasons Why The Former Chelsea Man Is A Great Coup For The Merseysiders

Share

Everton have made a stunning move by capturing Romelu Lukaku on a record deal for the club. It was unthinkable that Everton would spend so much money on a player, but with Lukaku they have broken the bank and spent £28 million. Manager Roberto Martinez was very specific in his needs and certainly Lukaku featured in that list. He is an admirer of the Belgian and wanted his services on a permanent basis after his loan deal went off well for both the parties.

Chelsea have got a a huge profit from this transfer, but still many believe that they could have kept Lukaku in the team considering the bright future that he can have. But there is absolutely no doubt on one matter that it is a great transfer for Everton and they have instant quality in their team. We give three reasons why Lukaku to Everton is a great coup for the Merseysiders.

The potential world beater

For long we have experienced that other big teams have arrived and ripped apart the Everton team. They have been the supply line of top clubs for years and never have we seen a reversal. This is the first time in a number of years that Everton have got a top player in their team, one that could actually help them attain glory in the near future. Lukaku is a quality player and having been accustomed to the Premier League for a couple of years now, he is a top rated striker in the EPL. He has spent the last season on loan at Everton scoring 15 goals and he knows the team and their playing style, adding to the fact that he will be an instant hit.

The new era

David Moyes was a much loved man in the club ranks for what he has done for the club. He has made them a stable force, both on and off the field and now they stand on firm grounds. This is the right time for them to announce the onset of a new era led by Roberto Martinez, where their playing style and their approach in the transfer market would change. They can no longer be the club whom the big clubs consider as a market and the 28 million signing is the first step in that direction.

The business sense

Chelsea bought Lukaku for a fee in the region of £18 million and could sell him for as much as £28 million without having to play him for most of the time. Everton could also sell him off for another huge profit by in a couple of years if some other bigshots come for him. He has all the potential to be among the top three strikers of the world in a couple of seasons and then it is assumed that big clubs with come lining up for him. Everton could then capitalise on that situation and make a profit on Lukaku to further their financial cause. All in all, signing Lukaku is not only rewarding in terms of the impact on field, but also from the business aspects.
