Three Reasons Why Arsenal Should Not Sign This Veteran Striker

Share

According to Mirror, Arsenal are linked with a January move for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov. Arsenal fans in social networks expressed mixed opinions about this deal. Some fans believe Arsenal will benefit from experience the Bulgarian striker will bring in and few others want Wenger to get a world class replacement for Giroud, not just a temporary back up.

Berbatov

1. Too Slow For EPL

Dimitar Berbatov is famous for his amazing ball control and magical first touch. But  on the negative side, he has very poor pace and acceleration. Arsenal’s gameplay relies on fast one-touch passes and quick counter attacks. They already have Giroud who is very slow compared to other strikers in the league. So, buying another slow forward is a bad idea that will disrupt balance in Arsenal attack.

2. Out Of Form

Dimitar Berbatov have the title winning experience with Manchester United. Arsenal youngsters could benefit from this in their mission to win a trophy this season. But Berbatov seem to have lost his goal scoring touch which is his main job as a center forward. According to Whoscored.Com, he had just scored 4 goals in 15 games till now which is not impressive for a premier league striker of his caliber.

3. Poor Work Rate & Injury Prone

Dimitar Berbatov has low attacking and defensive work rate. He gets tired soon and runs out of energy to play full 90 mins. He is physically not strong either. Former Manchester United man will obviously struggle against physically strong defenders. The Bulgarian is also injury prone. Arsenal already have lot of injury problems and  buying another injury prone striker is not a sensible thing to do.

Hope Wenger knows this and buy some young and long -term targets like Karim Benzema or at least someone like Morata.
