Three Games That Could Decide The Title – Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool All Involved

Share

With the Premier League down to it’s business end, the title is still anyone’s to win and realistically Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are all in with a decent shout. While Chelsea seems to be in the best position of strength, being seven points ahead of fellow rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, it must be remembered that both of them have a game in hand and perhaps more importantly are still to face the Blues one more time in the Premier League. Even Manchester City, while being nine points behind the leaders, have three games in hand and could mathematically have been top instead of Chelsea had they played the same number of matches. With all four of the teams going great guns against the lower tier teams, it will be the so called ‘big matches’ which will determine the Premier League title race. Let us have a look at the three matches which will potentially decide the destiny of which team lifts the Premier League trophy.

1. Chelsea Vs Arsenal:

Chelsea

This is one match which is being long awaited by not only the Arsenal and the Chelsea fans but by the Premier League faithful at large. Leaving aside the war of words instigated by Jose Mourinho where the Special One taunted Arsene Wenger by calling him ‘a speciality in failure’ which so agitated the Arsenal fans, this London derby will go a long way in determining the fate of the Premier League. With Arsenal to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the end of this month , this match promises to be an exploding one with all the ingredients ready. While Jose Mourinho has never lost against Arsene Wenger and are also playing at home, the 5-3 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will be all too fresh in the mind of the Arsenal fans. With Arsenal likely to welcome back Aaron Ramsey  in that match , it will be an interesting to watch how Arsenal counter the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian etc who have been blitzing away teams at home all season long.

2. Arsenal Vs Manchester City:

Arsenal

This is one clash which will go a long way in determining the future of the Premier League title race this season. Arsenal will have to face Manchester City just four days after facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. While for many Manchester City are the favourites for this tie, Manuel Pellegrini’s side has been much less convincing of late with unexpected defeats coming much too often. The days of Manchester City blitzing past opponents seems long over and a 6-3 repeat from the Manchester City home tie looks highly unlikely. Arsenal are a very formidable opponent at home and with Manchester City having struggles of their own, this one promises to be a very intriguing tactical battle between the two veteran managers. With Sergio Aguero back for this tie however it will still be Manchester City who will be the slight favourites for this one.

3. Liverpool Vs Manchester City:

Liverpool have been in deadly form at the Anfield this season irrespective of the opposition and this promises to be a neutral’s delight with both very attacking teams who likes having a go instead of sitting back. With the clash of the artillery powers of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo against Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge this is probably the most interesting clash amongst the Premier League rivals. This is one match which will probably be decided more in the defensive third instead of the offensive one. With Kolo Toure and Demichilis manning the Liverpool and Manchester City defences respectively the chances are that defensive mistakes, or rather which team makes the less number, will decide the tie in the end.
