Xhaka was one of the first high-profile players to move this summer after he signed a deal with Arsenal. The Swiss midfielder was particularly impressive in the recently concluded European Championships putting in a consecutive man of the match performances. He is most likely to slide straight into Wenger’s starting XI in the centre of the field. Despite being only 23-years-old, Xhaka already has 47 international and was the captain of the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining the Gunners. Xhaka is solid defensively and has the ability to spray pin-point passes upfront.
Kante was mighty impressive for Leicester City last season as they went on their miracle run, which culminated in the title. The Frenchman became the second signing of Antonio Conte’s reign following the arrival of Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi and is the perfect player to give Chelsea the platform to mount a proper title challenge next season. Although Chelsea paid £30m, five times more than what Leicester City paid to get his services, if he can carry on from where he left off last season, he could easily turn out to be the best signing of the summer.
Middlesbrough secured their promotion to the Premier League with a final day win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Boro made their first signing of the summer after they confirmed a deal with Ajax to sign Denmark winger Viktor Fischer. Fischer is an experienced player with eight caps for his national team as well as over 100 senior appearances for Ajax since joining them in the summer of 2012. He scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for the Dutch club last season.
