Chelsea’s Petr Cech is all set to complete his move to Arsenal before this weekend, according to Sky sources. A transfer fee has not yet been agreed for the Czech Republic goalie but is expected to be fixed in the next 48 hours by the two Premier League giants.
It is further understood that personal terms have already been agreed with the Gunners though they continue to have talks with the west London side in order to fix a price for their target. The transfer will now be just a cash deal, as Chelsea’s request to receive a home-grown player was denied by Arsene Wenger.
Owner Roman Abramovich has granted Cech the permission to sign for any club that he wants as a gift for his loyalty though it could now be their league rivals Arsenal. The 33-year-old keeper has just a year left on his current deal with the Blues but was looking for first-team football elsewhere.
Skipper John Terry stated on Monday that he believes Arsenal will be buying an extra 12-15 points a season if they sign Cech. In his interview, the Chelsea captain told radio station Talksport,
“There is obviously talk of Arsenal signing Petr and if they do get Pete, that will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 to 15 points a season.”
“I am sure if he does leave the club, which nobody wants to see, but we understand he wants to play football, he is going to be sorely missed. He will improve whatever side he goes to.”
