Why Reus Should Choose Arsenal Over Manchester United If He Decides To Move

The Borussia Dortmund superstar has been linked with a move away from Germany in the last few days with Manchester United and Arsenal being the possible destinations for the German international.

Earlier in an interview, Reus revealed that several European clubs have been monitoring him and that he will make a decision on his future in 2018.

“There are four or five international clubs who interest me,” said Reus.

“On May 31 next year, I will turn 30. That would be my last big contract and a final opportunity to try something different.”

“I have to be honest and fair and say I don’t know where I’ll end up. At the moment, I’m very happy in Dortmund and not thinking about what happens after 2019. But, of course, the time will come and then I will sit down and calmly make a decision.”

The 28-year-old’s contract with Dortmund is set to expire in 2019 and he is said to be a major target for the Red Devils in January. But would the German really fit into Jose Mourinho’s team? Or is he better off at Arsenal who are also in the running for his services?

Manchester United already have several talented players fighting for the position in which Reus usually plays – the wing. Players like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have already staked their claim in the first-team.

All these players have done a great job in the chances they have got and they do not really deserve to be dropped to make space for Marco Reus. On the other hand, Reus would be of much more use at Arsenal, who are in desperate need of a winger now that Alexis Sanchez could leave.

The Chilean has been the forefront of Arsenal’s attack for the last couple of seasons and has done a tremendous job for the Gunners. It makes perfect sense for Reus to pick Arsenal instead of United as he would walk straight into the first-team and make an impact.

There are not many managers who can extract every bit of talent from a player like Arsene Wenger does. Reus would certainly excel under the Frenchman and would guide Arsenal to Premier League glory.

If he decides to stay, Mesut Ozil could form a deadly partnership with Reus, who is also his international teammate. Both of them have played together on several occasions for Germany and could emulate the same success at Arsenal too.
