These Two Liverpool Players Simply Need To Leave The Club To Fulfill Their Potential

Share

Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League table with their chins up. And why shouldn’t they? Klopp’s men have been absolutely fantastic to watch this season. The kind of attacking football that they are producing week in, week out is a stuff of the dreams. They are dominating every team that comes in front of them and this will be a worrying sign for other top clubs that cannot afford to slip up, as that would hand the initiative to Liverpool, who barring their defensive shortcomings, have been perfect this season.

The Liverpool squad has umpteen numbers of talented players who are all willing to showcase their skills for their master Klopp who seems to be the right man at the helm for the Anfield side. The German looks ever-so-confident and is seldom seen frowning and with the kind of performances his team are giving him, he won’t be seen frowning anytime soon. Klopp has also shown that he trusts young players that are making their way through the club’s academy. Quite a few have made their bows for the first team under Klopp.

But there a few players that need to leave Liverpool in order to maximise their potential. Although having these players could be beneficial for Liverpool in terms of squad depth, they must be let go of as it would help them with a great deal too. Here are 2 players that need to leave Liverpool to truly flourish –

Divock Origi

The Belgian attacker had quite an introduction on the world stage when he scored an 88th-minute winner for Belgium against Russia in a World Cup encounter 2 years ago. Still 21, his Liverpool career has failed to take off as many had envisaged it to. Origi himself will be disappointed that he hasn’t done too much in a Liverpool shirt to justify the hype behind his transfer from Lille. Last season, he scored 10 goals in 33 games, primarily being used in the Europa League and other cup competitions. This season , he has seen his game time being limited to substitute appearances due to the superb form of Liverpool’s front line. When an England international like Daniel Sturridge is himself sat on the bench, Origi can’t really expect much in terms of game time. Klopp seems to prefer Brazilian Firmino in the role up front and things have to change drastically if that has to change.

However, there could be a glimmer of hope for Origi in the form of Sadio Mane’s absence in January, when the Senegalese forward will be on international duty at the African Cup of Nations. If he still isn’t given a chance, Origi must look to move on before the January transfer window shuts.

Mamadou Sakho

Another player that represented his nation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Sakho has seen his stock fall at Liverpool. This is following an altercation with Jurgen Klopp regarding his discipline. The fact that he was investigated by UEFA for violating an anti-doping role further tarnished his image. His route back to the first team doesn’t look so clear now as he has been demoted to the reserves. Quite a fall from grace for the Frenchman who once captained Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Liverpool in 2013.

Sakho should look to get loaned out or even move somewhere permanently to get his career back on track. Table toppers in France, OGC Nice have shown an interest in giving him another lease of life. Premier League club West Brom too have shown interest and that should flatter Sakho given his involvement in various bust-ups. He needs to rebuild his career in order to get back into the national team fold.
