Suso, Liverpool’s Spanish sensation has revealed that he turned down a big money move to Real Madrid in order to become a Kop hero. Suso signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2010 from his hometown club Cadiz, rejecting Spanish giants like Barcelona and Real Madrid after which he claimed:
Suso wants to be a KOP hero“I was going to sign for Real Madrid but one day before it the phone rang and Rafael Benitez spoke to me. He convinced me that Liverpool was the club for me and after that I had to change my plans. I was going to come to Liverpool.”
After appearing in a pre-season friendly and a Jamie Carragher testimonial match, Suso joined the reserve side and made his way though to the first team this season. In the 2010-11 season, he made the joint-highest number of appearances for the reserves side with 17, and netted three goals. And in the next campaign scored 5 goals from 17 league games and he also added seven appearances in the NextGen Series to his name.
The Spanish youngster has finally made it to the center stage as he has been impressive with his substitute appearances in the last three matches. Suso, who joined the Reds from Spanish team Cadiz has always been rated as one of the top young talents across the country.
Suso joined Liverpool from Spanish minnows Cadiz in 2009, and has since been rated as one of the best young talents in the country. And speaking to the press after the Capital One Cup, Suso revealed more about his move to the Mersey side club
‘I’m glad I made this decision. I love this club and it is the best for me. I have never thought about going. I feel comfortable here and no intention of ever leaving.’
It is a welcome boost for the kop fans and their manager Rodgers, who is already weighing up options to offer contracts to his youngsters in a bid to keep them at Anfield for a longer run. For now though, Suso is just focused on becoming a Liverpool hero.
