Summer Transfers – 3 Liverpool Players Who Should Be Sold Or Leave The Club

Share

A season that started with one man in charge and then being replaced by a big named manager, Liverpool’s progress in the league has been staggered to say the least. The Reds haven’t had an enjoyable season so far and their dreams of making it into the Champions League qualifying position is almost a dream.

Jurgen Klopp might have been touted as the man to change their fortunes but after more than half the season in charge one thing is certain, there are too many mediocre players at the club and that needs to be looked into.

Liverpool didn’t sign anyone of great notice in the winter transfer window because they did not want to spend over the top. The summer could be an actual reflection of what the club wants to do with their playing staff and we look at three players who must be sold by the Reds.

Simon Mignolet

If there is any player who must be sold by the club ASAP, it has to be the Belgian Simon Mignolet. While everyone has stated that his performances for Liverpool have not been good, it was a surprise to see him get a 5-year contract extension at the club.

We all saw how he capitulated late in the game against Sunderland and it is such mistakes which have dogged his career at Anfield. He might be a good one-on-one shot stopper but barring that he really isn’t that great. Jurgen Klopp has to replace the goalkeeper quickly.

Adam Lallana

This might be a tough one to call but Adam Lallana hasn’t hit the heights he achieved at Southampton a few years ago. Since signing for Liverpool, the English attacker has had one or two good games but hasn’t really lit up Anfield.

The 27-year-old might not be suited to Klopp’s pressing and running game and that could be one reason why he is another player who could be on the chopping block next season for the Reds, unless he turns up and decides to play out of his skin for Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge

The English striker has looked lethal when fit but that has been a rarity for Liverpool this season. He would be ideal for Liverpool’s playing style and the Reds have missed his ability in front of goal but they do need a goal scorer.

If Sturridge is not going to be fit for most of the season then there really isn’t any point in keeping the striker. Liverpool brought in Christian Benteke but that hasn’t solved any problems either. There are high hopes for Divock Origi and Danny Ings, who could be leading the line for the Reds next season.
