It’s a fresh start for Liverpool after the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as their new manager replacing Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers just moments after the 1-1 draw against Everton just before the International break. The German manager, who previously managed Borussia Dortmund will have his first test as the manager against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. How will the Reds line up in their first match under Klopp? Here is their likely line up.

Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet

Belgian International Simon Mignolet will be the Reds’ goalkeeper for the clash against Tottenham.

Simon Mignolet

Defenders: Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno

New signing Nathaniel Clyne will play as the right-back while Spanish defender Alberto Moreno will play on the left. French International Mamadoudou Sakho, who signed a new contract with Liverpool few weeks back along with Martin Skrtel will be the two central defenders. It is almost certain that Klopp won’t play German International Emre Can in the defence.

Midfielders: James Milner, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, Philipe Coutinho, Adam Lallana

Philippe Coutinho

As mentioned above, Emre Can won’t be playing in the defence but he will be Liverpool’s holding midfielder alongside England’s James Milner. In the absence of Jordan Henderson, Milner will captain the side. Klopp usually prefers to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation which needs two proper wingers. Brazilian Roberto Firmino and England’s Adam Lallana will be the two wingers with Philipe Coutinho as the number 10. Firmino is back from his injury and might be handed a start by Klopp.

Forward: Daniel Sturridge

Christian Benteke

Belgian forward Christian Benteke has been ruled out of the clash due to an injury and Klopp will be left with Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Benteke’s fellow Belgian Divock Origi as the options for the lone striker. It is likely that Sturridge will be the striker and Ings might make an impact later on in the game.
