Strongest Liverpool Line Up To Face Arsenal (FA Cup) – Beware Of SAS

Share

A confident Liverpool side, fresh from their 3-2 comeback win against Fulham in the Premier League travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Reds from Merseyside are currently four points off the leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table and as manager Brendan Rodgers claims they are the Chihuahua between the big horses in a race to the finish. They now take on an Arsenal side, whom they annihilated 5-1 at Anfield and now have failed to win in their last two games and are certainly losing their grip at the top of the table. So can Liverpool nullify a wounded Arsenal outfit with their squad and what will be Brendan Rodgers’ best possible lineup? We here at Soccersouls have the answer.

Goalkeeping and Defence

As Rodgers has already said he would send out his best possible eleven out there on the Emirates. Thus Simon Mingolet should man the Liverpool goal but has to be wary of the Arsenal midfield who can create for their lone striker from anywhere in the park and also score goals at will. Even as Wenger has decided to rotate his squad, the Belgian should be confident he can muster up a clean sheet to ensure his side’s progress in England’s oldest cup competition.

John Flannagan plays in right back with Aly Cissokho manning the defensive side in the other flank with Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson both out. Martin Skrtel should be relieved to see either of Daniel Agger or Mamadou Sakho alongside him as both the duo have returned to training. The less said about Kolo Toure the better as the Ivorian continues to play poorly in the heart of the defence and having the knack of scoring inexplicable own goals.

Midfield

Gerrard

Steven Gerrard comes into this encounter with his best match of the season at the back of him and will again play very deep in the midfield role controlling his side’s tempo and rhythm. Alongside him will be of course Jordan Henderson  who will be given the job to screen the back four. Phillipe Coutinho will be starting from the left again as Raheem Sterling playing wide right to provide width on the pitch. The English-Brazilian pair has been brilliant in the past few games using their scorching pace to turn defenders inside out. While the Brazilian will make forays in the middle of the park, he will eventually link up time and again with his younger Englishman and can create opportunities from any end of the park.

Forwards

Daniel Sturridge

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are expected to start together up front and as Arsene Wenger will have to work out a game plan to stop the rampaging English- Uruguayan from scoring for fun. The duo have the pace to run past Arsenal’s non-existent defence, like it was Anfield and Wenger should focus that such kind of shambolic defending doesn’t repeat, lest they would get murdered yet again.

Possible Lineup

Liverpool (Possible, 4-3-3): Mingolet; Flanagan, Skrtel, Agger, Cissokho; Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho; Suárez, Sturridge, Sterling.
