Strongest Arsenal Line-up To Face Newcastle – Start Poldi And Rest Ozil

Share

Fresh from a 3-1 win over West Ham, Arsenal travel a long way across the country to face Newcastle United on a super Sunday clash.

Let’s see what are all the options available for Wenger to put in a strong lineup against the men in black and white stripes,

Goal Keeper And Defense

Even though Szczesny should be blamed for West Ham’s first goal in mid week, he is still the best goal keeper Arsenal have at the moment and the Polish goal keeper will start without any doubt.

Vermaelen

In defense, Laurent koscielny is still not fully recovered, this means club captain Thomas Vermaelen will be given the nod by Wenger.  Belgian defender will partner Per Mertesacker who has been on a terrific form this season. Mr.dependable Bacary Sagna to start from right and Kiren Gibbs will make his marauding runs from the left.

Midfield

Wilshere

Aaron Ramsey’s thigh injury will keep him out for next few games. This is a real blow for the gunners considering the Welsh star has been the player of the season for them so far. Jack wilshere who is available after two match ban is expected to replace Ramsey in the starting line-up.  Arteta who is slowly getting back his lost form will partner Jack in the double pivot. After a magic display against West Ham, Cazorla should play as no 10 behind the striker. More importantly, it is the right time for Wenger to rest Mesut Ozil as he deserves a rest after playing week in and week out.

Strike Force

Lukas Podolski came in as substitute against West Ham and turned the match in Arsenal’s favor with an assist and a well taken goal. His left foot is one of the deadliest in world football. It will be a sensible move by Wenger if he starts Poldi on left. Theo Walcott who just can’t stop scoring at the moment will take up his place as right winger. Olivier Giroud will play as  striker as usual.
