Here is a weekly update from Soccersouls on La Liga goal scorers. It is already game-week 21 in Spain as Barcelona hold firm at the top of the table. Usual suspects Messi & Ronaldo stole the show once again.
1. Lionel Messi – 33
- Scored 4 goals in Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Osasuna at the Camp Nou.
- The Argentine is now the youngest player ever to pass the 200 mark in La Liga overtaking Telmo Zarra.
- Set a new league record with goals scored in 11 consecutive games,
- Messi increased his La Liga total to 202 goals in 235 games.
- 33 goals in 21 games this season, if he continued at this rate, he’d finish the campaign with 60 league goals -10 more than his record of 50 last year. Is there anything that could stop this little genius ?
2. Cristiano Ronaldo – 21
- Despite an ankle sprain, the unstoppable number seven scored a hat-trick in ten minutes against Getafe on Sunday.
- Incredibly it was his 19th hat-trick for Real Madrid since his arrival in 2009.
- He was subbed in the 72′ minute or he could well have added to his tally.
- With a left-footed strike, a right-footed strike and a header, Ronaldo scored the perfect hat-trick.
3. Falcao -18
- Falcao’s goals were missed by his side on Sunday as Atletico Madrid were beaten 3-0 at San Mames by Athletic Bilbao. El Tigre is sidelined due to a hamstring strain.
- Though Falcao’s injury is not as bad as first thought, the Colombian’s return remains a doubt.
4. Aduriz -11
- Did not score this weekend but set up his side’s third when he assisted Oscar de Marcos.
- He did score last Monday in the game against Betis though.
5. Rubén Castro – 12
- Also scored for his side in last Monday’s game, which finished 1-1.
- His 2′ penalty kick put his side ahead last week, but he was not able to prevent Betis being turned over 3-0 by Rayo Valleco on Sunday.
- Had four attempts in that game, the most for any Betis player.
6. Soldado – 11
- The Soldier picked up an injury last weekend; a strain to his quadricep, obliging him to sit out Valencia’s victory over Deportivo.
7. Piti – 10
- Scored a fourth minute penalty to set his side on course for an emphatic 3-0 victory over Betis.
8. Óscar – 9
- Was not able to prevent his side being beaten 2-1 by Levante and did not add to his tally at the weekend.
9. Higuaín, Negredo – 8
- Higuain started the match on Sunday but left the goalscoring duties to Ramos and Ronaldo.
- Negredo will have a chance to add to his tally later tonight as Sevilla hosts Granada in a late kickoff.
