Van Gaal had earlier dropped De Gea from the team’s season opener against Tottenham on last saturday and cited that the custodian was not in a right frame of mind to play for United and has handed in a transfer request for a move to Real Madrid.

On the other hand, De Gea’s Spanish counterpart Victor Valdes was not included in the squad. The recent run of ill treatment has confirmed Valdes’s exit from Manchester United after he was not part of United’s squad picture.
