Solution To Coutinho’s Injury – Should Klopp Switch His Formation To 4-2-3-1 From 4-3-3?

Share

Liverpool started this current season completely demolishing other great teams and reaching very good results in hostile territories. Jurgen Klopp’s team is seen like one of the favourites to win the Premier League this season regardless the good performances of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The German head coach had a first season in which he took Merseyside team to Europa League final but unfortunately failed to breach Sevilla’s defence. Now, after the rebuilding is done, it is clear that Klopp and his team want to break their curse and win Liverpool’s first Premier League ever after years of struggling (in which their maximum rival won a lot of them).

As we said, Klopp built the team he wanted, and so far this season, his team has been one of the best in Premier, mainly because of its attackers Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane. These three created one of the best associations Anfield Road has seen in the last years, maybe comparable to the one created by Sturridge, Suarez and Gerrard.

However, Liverpool were dealt with a major blow this weekend, as they’ve lost one of their biggest figures as Coutinho got injured recently. After this event, both the media and the fans have been wondering how Klopp can fix this situation, either he switch his current formation or should he use Origi while Coutinho is out?

Klopp should change his formation in order to recover the shape of one of the referents of this team: Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge has been one of the most important players in Liverpool since his arrival from Chelsea. Besides, he is the only player remaining of the trio that almost gives Liverpool its first Premier trophy a couple of seasons ago, under the lead of Brendan Rodgers.

Now Sturridge is not going through his best moment, and he is reportedly interested in leaving Liverpool either in January or in the next summer. It is well known that Klopp does not count with Sturridge since the German coach arrived at Merseyside, but if Klopp knows how to use Sturridge, this “experiment” could be a win-win situation for both parties.

Klopp can give Sturridge more chances in the starting lineup in order to bring him back to his best days, and keep Daniel happy while he stays in Liverpool. If Daniel shows the game he used to show, he could easily stay in Liverpool or go to a team that knows he is not done yet. Rumours say many teams will try to purchase Sturridge next January, and if he can demonstrate a great level during last fixtures with Liverpool, the number or pretender will increase.

Besides, seeing the explosive game from Divock Origi, the former Borussia Dortmund coach could use the Belgian player as a regular replacement when Liverpool needs vertigo and velocity to unlock a game. After receiving the bad news of Coutinho’s injury, Sturridge can be given a new life to breathe.
