Signing For Chelsea Would Be A Step Back For This Serie A Star?

Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia has been linked with a move to the Blues, though he should be cautious of reuniting with Jose Mourinho. According to the Express, Chelsea look to trump Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham in the race for Andrea Ranocchia.

Here are 3 Reasons Why Andrea Ranocchia Should Avoid Signing for Chelsea

Inter are reviving

Inter Milan have been going downhill fast since the treble winning campaign of 2010, and the rebuilding process is in full flow with a new manager, young squad and new owner. Although they have had good points this season, they have also been tore apart by a rampant Roma side, while Napoli also eased past the Nerazzurri last week. Though with a rich new owner, Inter can afford the players they need to push for a Champions League spot once again, and if they get it right in January, by this time next season Inter could once again be a better team than Chelsea, and also a team that Ranocchia would rather be a part of. Walter Mazzarri has been around the block more than one, and has a lot of faith in the Italian defender, so it would be better for him not to throw that away and keep going at Inter, as there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Endless comparisons with John Terry

In the 2005/06 season, John Terry was one of Europe’s standout defenders, captaining Chelsea who steamrolled their way to Premier League success. Since he has flickered on occasion, but has not played to that standard in a long time, though the majority of Chelsea fans see it differently. If Ranocchia was to make a mistake that Terry had committed earlier in a game, he would be criticised, while they would find an excuse for the former England international, and that would not help the Inter defender’s confidence or reputation. A move wouldn’t be wise for the former Genoa man in that instance.

To keep his place in the Italy national team

It is the same now as it always has been, the best Italian players stay in Italy, no matter who’s made an offer for them. With the exceptions of Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluca Zambrotta who had spells at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, the best usually stay in Italy. This means that almost all of the Italian national team players are Serie A regulars also, and this gives them an advantage over the few who took the move abroad. However, Ranocchia isn’t quite good enough to be made an exception, and would most likely lose his place on the Italy bench should he swap Milan for London.
