Should Liverpool Make A Move For Arsenal’s Long Term Target Remy?

With Queens Park Rangers getting eliminated to Championship, some players of the club are expected to make avail of the relegation clause in their contract papers. This would provide the other clubs with an opportunity to go for some fine quality players at a very low price. One such player definitely is Frenchman Loic Remy who joined them just in January from Marseille for a fee expected to be in the region of £8m. But just after five months, he is disillusioned and wants a move away from Loftus Road to stay afloat in the Premier League. While several clubs are monitoring the situation, the big question is whether Liverpool should go for the striker as a cover for Luis Suarez.

Liverpool, who seemed to have hit the bull’s eye with January signing of Daniel Sturridge, again find themselves in the same situation as before. With Luis Suarez serving a 10 match ban for violent conduct on Ivanovic in the game against Chelsea, the injury prone Danile Sturridge again remains to be the lone man forward. The worst about the ban is that it extends to the beginning of next season as well, making their strike force toothless for a fair bit of time.

Under these circumstances a move for Remy would not be a bad idea for Liverpool specially because the striker would cost around £6m and the club is in no position to spend big money. Remy has already proved his capability scoring 27 times in 68 matches for Marseille and five times in 11 games after his transfer to the English shores. The Coutinho-Sturridge-Remy partnership may flourish in the new season and provide cover for them in case one of their strikers gets injured once the fixtures pile up. With a neat finishing and a penchant for goal, Remy is can do his job of a target man quite efficiently. Provided he gets support from the midfield, Remy is certain to pour in goals for his team.

Considering all these Loic Remy should be ideal for Liverpool in their strike force but his age of 26 might be just a drawback for the manager who has a knack of picking up players very young.
