Hull City

Sensational Marshall, Steady Campbell – The best and the worst rated Hull players vs Sheffield Wednesday

Share

Full Time: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Hull City

Hull City earned a vital point away from home to Sheffield Wednesday after goalkeeper David Marshall made several saves to deny the home side a lead. The Tigers led through a Fraizer Campbell effort after Jarrod Bowen hit the crossbar and Evandro’s follow-up was well saved by Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson.

The home side equalised early in the second half through a Fernando Forestieri penalty. They had plenty of chances to net the winner before the final whistle, only for the visiting keeper and defence to deny them.

Hence, in the end, Hull will be a more relieved side.

Hull City Player Ratings

David Marshall (8)

Made some fantastic saves to deny the Owls. Had no chance with the penalty.

Eric Lichaj (7.5)

He was tidy in his defensive duties and linked up well with Bowen down that right-hand side.

Reece Burke

Reece Burke (6)

He was comfortable and looked a part in the first half. The summer signing gave away a penalty though.

Jordy de Wijs (7)

Was clumsy to get a booking early on but came back well and was physically imposing.

Stephen Kingsley (5.5)

Not an easy afternoon for the left-back against a dangerous Adam Reach. Came back well later in the game.

Markus Henrikson (6)

Struggled in the midfield, especially in the second half to stop the runners getting into dangerous areas.

Dan Batty (6.5)

Was tidy in the midfield, but just like his partner, he was worked in the second period.

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen (6.5)

Stuck the post which was followed up by a goal from Campbell. Was guilty of missing a clear-cut opportunity.

Evandro (6)

Just like many Hull players, he was very effective early on and faded as the game went on.

Todd Kane (6.5)

Kane was industrious in his forward movements but couldn’t impact much. However, the desire is there to do well.

Fraizer Campbell

Fraizer Campbell (7)

Led the line efficiently and scored the opening goal. He struggled to get support in the second half, as the whole team was forced backwards by the home side.

Substitutes

Jackson Irvine (Subbed on after 66 mins) (6)

Added midfield stability, which was needed in the second half.

Jon Toral (Subbed on after 72 mins) (5)

Came on with about 20 minutes to go but made some sloppy passes which went unpunished.
