Scouting For Pochettino – 3 Long Term Players That Tottenham Can Buy From The La Liga

Share

After some demoralising defeats in the last few rounds of the Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur managed to get back to winning ways this week as they put three past struggling Hull City earlier in the week. The manager will be relatively happy with the performances of his side but the recent struggles of the side might see the manager jump into the transfer market in January for a few additions. Though the local league is the best market for Pochettino, the Argentine has always looked for additions from Spain over the years.

Here are 3 such La Liga players that Spurs can look at for a move in January:

Sandro Ramirez (Malaga):

Having joined the Spanish outfit just this season from Barcelona, the 21-year old attacker has been in sublime form in the domestic season this campaign. He has 7 goals already to his name in the competition and is an integral part of the squad at Malaga. He was linked with a move to the Premier League at the end of the previous season but Sandro decided to stay in Spain for another year and is reaping benefits of the decision already. However, with the Spurs now in search of a genuine goal scorer, Sandro, might be a decent option for the English outfit. But with more than 2 years left on his contract, he may not be available on the cheap but if Spurs can lure him out just months after his move to Malaga, they can turn into one of the most effective teams in front of goal in the Premier League.

James Rodriguez (Real Madrid):

The 25-year old sensation who moved to Real Madrid after a super display at the World Cup, Rodriguez is easily one of the best attackers in world football at the moment. However, he has fallen completely out of favour at the Bernabeu this season with Zidane dropping him from the bench also for a few games. The Colombian star has not been able to get regular football at the club and though his mother recently revealed that playing for the La Liga giants is his childhood dream, lack of playing time might see him move out of the club in January.

A number of clubs have already been linked with a move for him with Real already looking at replacements and there are very few clubs where Rodriguez fits better than at Tottenham. Young and dynamic, just like Pochettino wants, Rodriguez and his experience will assume an important role in the side fighting for a place in the Champions League and if Pochettino can get it done, it will be one of their best transfers in recent times.

Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona):

Though a regular starter for the Spanish giants, the Croatian international, has just not been able to live up to the expectations of the side in recent games. He is still an integral part of the squad but recently, he has been linked with a move away from the club and Tottenham Hotspur are one of the many teams scouting for him for a move in January. Barcelona would not be interested in a winter switch but if they can find a player who will improve their current quality, Rakitic may well be on his way. At 28, he has all the experience to walk into a Pochettino side and can help them in crunch games. He is in his best possible time of his career and if Barcelona are not happy with his returns, he is well advised to plot a move away from Spain with the Spurs lurking.
