Scoring When Needed, Why This Superstar Is Chelsea’s Player Of The Month For February

Share

Chelsea have witnessed a downfall this season and it came under the special one but a recent resurgence under Guus Hiddink has done them a lot of favour and has bolstered their goal of finishing in the top eight. One man crucially has stepped up for Chelsea and he is deservingly their player of the month for February and that is none other than Diego Costa himself.

Diego Costa wasn’t firing much under Mourinho. He was tilting towards the left hand side of the pitch a lot but under Hiddink he’s been given a more central role, a role of a poacher and a striker.

In 24 appearances for Chelsea this season, Costa has created 24 chances but more importantly, has scored 11 crucial goals.

None of his teammates have matched Diego Costa in February. He has scored 9 goals in 14 games for Guus Hiddink and three of the most important goals have come in February. It is not just about Costa scoring goals or anything but it’s more about the timing of him stepping up and it has come at the perfect time for Chelsea Football Club.

In his game against Manchester United, he scored crucially in injury time and then after that Costa stepped up to outshine the Newcastle defenders in Chelsea’s 5-1 rout of the Magpies and days after that he went into a special gear of his scoring against a weakened Manchester City side and humiliating them at the Bridge.

Costa is scoring goals that has really mattered for his side right now and altogether it’s having a profound effect on the Chelsea Team as a whole.

Costa looks like a completely different player now. A more like an improvised version under manager Guus Hiddink. He’s back running the channels, and doing what he does best, that is, finding the net and making it bulge.  When he is in this special form there are very few in the Premier League that can match him and time and again Costa has proved he is an indispensible player of this Chelsea side and he’ll look to show more of himself in the coming days. We are assured!
