Tottenham’s Most Likely Lineup to Face Manchester City

Share

2 narrow Wins in a row and then a disappointing NLD loss isn’t exactly the ideal preparation Spurs would have hoped for before facing table toppers Manchester City, but if the defense sticks together, they have a fair shot at taking 3 points.

In goal, we will see the ever reliable Hugo Lloris who will also wear the armband like always. The defense line will also not see any change as it seems like Pochetino has figured out his first choice back 4 to be Kyle Walker accompanied by the Belgian duo of Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. Welsh international Ben Davies has been making the left back spot his own since Danny Rose was out injured and the England international is finding it hard to make it back to the starting line up.

Hugo Lloris

Ryan Mason is still in doubt after he suffered an injury while scoring the winning goal v Sunderland while Dembele also shows very less signs of making it back for the fixture, so the midfield will be the 2 young Englishmen, Eric Dier and Delle Alli, who has been playing superbly in the Premier League so far and his performances has raised more than a few eyebrows including Roy Hodgson, but Pochettino feels he isn’t ready to take the big step yet and should not be thrown into the limelight already.

The attacking trio of the midfield will feature Chadli, Eriksen and Son. Lamela is making a good claim to make it to the XI after 2 good games in the Europa and Premier League but Chadli looks to be the more trustworthy option in such a big game and Lamela has tended to perform better while coming off the bench similar to Andros Townsend in recent times under Pochettino. New signing Son has shown great promise and will look to carry forward the great run of form he is in.

Heung-Min Son

The striker is of no doubt going to Kane though he is goalless in all 3 club competitions but was ruled offside on 2 occasions he found the net. Unlucky yet hard working and contributing in the build up play, Kane will be key especially in terms of goal scoring. A goal in this big game will surely do a lot of good for his confidence.

It’s going to be a hard game for Tottenham and probably result in a loss but in football you never know.
