Last week, few reports claimed that Arsenal are very close to finalize a deal for AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli.
Now AC Milan’s club president Silvio Berlusconi totally denied any such deals.
In a recent interview, he said,
“We have not received any offer [for Balotelli] and at this time, there is nothing from Arsenal,”
It is believed that Arsenal were very much interested in the deal but they backed off after Balotelli’s poor display at World Cup in which Italy got eliminated very early in the tournament.
Earlier this month, Berlusconi admitted that he is desperate to sell Balotelli.
He said,
“Other than Italy, I’m the one who lost at the World Cup. I was selling Balotelli to an English team for several millions, but, after this World Cup, who will buy him now? I was going to sell it (sic) to a top English club for 35million [euros], then the deal has stalled.”
Since Milan are this desperate to sell the former Manchester City man, his market value will come down considerably. If not for Arsenal, some other top club from Europe will buy him before the transfer deadline day.
