European champions Real Madrid have made enquiries for Borussia Dortmund‘s American attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic, who is also a Chelsea and Bayern Munich target. The 19-year-old is rated at around £60m in the market.
Madrid are a bit circumspect whether Chelsea will sell Eden Hazard this season, and Neymar has made it clear that he will stay at Paris Saint-Germain for the 2018/19 season. So, the club needs to find a wide player or an attacking midfielder to cover the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and Pulisic might be the right man.
The American playmaker increased his stock after a fantastic performance against Liverpool in the pre-season game. He has been on the radar of some of the big clubs, and now seems the right time for Los Blancos to bring him in before any potential suitors grab the initiative.
Here’s why Real Madrid could strike gold by signing Pulisic, a potential game-changer at the Bernabeu:
The first and foremost thing about Pulisic is his versatility to play at any position across the front line behind a striker. He possesses lovely close control of the ball when there are defenders around, dribbling past them in a trice to open up space for a shoot or a pass. He has a dribble success rate of 2.4 per game.
Pulisic loves to thread a through ball for other attacking players to get on the end of – he created 30 chances (key passes) in 32 league appearances last season. His close-control allows him to be a reliable player in possession, as he lost the ball only 53 times at the rate of 1.7 times per game, which is perfect, bearing in mind that he is mostly circled by defenders.
The American playmaker is just 19 and has plenty of years left in him to showcase his talent to the world.
Real Madrid need an attacking midfielder who can take chances and create something with the ball. In Pulisic, they will get that in abundance.

So, that signals a long-term project with the American, which new manager Julien Lopetegui would love to take up. For the player as well, it will be a surreal opportunity to go to a place like the Bernabeu and wear that Madrid shirt with pride.
