Rangers News: Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was pleased with his side’s win over Kilmarnock last night.
The Light Blues hosted Steve Clark’s Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup 5th round replay at Ibrox stadium last night and defeated them 5-0.
Alfredo Morelos made an emphatic comeback after the suspension as the Colombian striker netted four goals which helped the Light blues to pick up a 5-0 win.
Earlier, Gerrard cited the absence of Morelos in previous games and that reflected on their results. With his return, the Light Blues ensured their place in the Scottish Cup Quarter-finals. The 22-year-old has now scored 23 goals this season across all competitions.
Andy Halliday who came as a substitute also found the score sheet.
The former Liverpool star was delighted with his side’s comeback following back-to-back draws (h/t Rangers UK):
“The fans were too – and rightly so. It was up to us to come out tonight with a different mentality and a different attitude, and I thought we started the game very strongly.
Gerrard welcomed the return of Morelos and praised the valuable performances from Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent.
“I thought he showed tonight again, we missed him sorely in certain games this year, so it was fantastic to have him back but I would also like to praise the supporting cast tonight with Candeias getting some assists and Kent getting an assist.”
He further added that the players have to keep their consistency level intact.
“For me, you have to go into every game with the same mentality, the same reaction, the same attitude and the same fight and desire.”
The Gers as of now are second in the Scottish Premiership table behind Celtic.
