According to a report in Wales Online, Cardiff City including many other clubs are interested in signing 22-year-old winger Luis Fernando Diaz.
The player currently plies his trade at Colombian side Atletico Junior, and it is suggested that he turned down a chance to move to Argentine side River Plate in January (h/t Wales Online).
Diaz has been in great form this season, attracting interest from clubs all around Europe.
As per the report in Spanish outlet AS, scouts from four different teams in four different countries came to watch the winger in action against Brazilian side Palmeiras in the Copa Libertatores on Thursday.
The player’s agent claims that one of those scouts was from Premier League club Cardiff City (h/t Wales Online).
That being said, here’s why Rangers should beat the Welsh side’s attempts to sign Luis Diaz:
Rangers have done well in Steven Gerrard’s first season as a manager but it feels like they need more quality depth in their squad if title and cup challenges are to be sustained.
While they have two high-quality wingers in Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias operating on either side of striker Alfredo Morelos, the Gers could do with more in that department.
Hence, signing someone like Luis Diaz, who has pace, direct ability with the ball and good crosses, would enhance the propensity of the squad. The Colombian’s dribbling skills are close to the next level, making him an attractive prospect.

Rangers already have one superstar striker from Colombia (Morelos), who is doing well and has signed a contract extension. If they can get a player of Diaz’s quality in the summer, it would be the icing on the cake.
Furthermore, Morelos can help Diaz in the adjustment to a new environment and a new country.
