Rangel In For Naughton: Predicted Swansea City XI To Play Hull City

Share

Swansea City will travel to the KCOM Arena this Saturday, as they go head to head against fellow relegation battlers Hull City in the Matchweek 28 of the Premier League.

Paul Clement’s side will be high on confidence following their last-minute 3-2 win against Burnley last week and will look to keep the momentum going. The Swans have won two of their last five league games and are five points above the relegation zone. And they will want to pull further away with a positive result on Saturday.

Swansea have faced the Tigers three times this season and have come out on the losing side on all the three occasions, once in the league, once in the League Cup and once in the FA Cup. But they will want to come out on top in a clash that could potentially be a six-pointer tie given the relegation struggles.

Clement will most likely be without the services of right-back Kyle Naughton, after he suffered a hamstring injury, while Nathan Dyer is a long-term absentee. Midfielder Ki Seung-Yung and winger Jefferson Montero are expected to be fit, but it is unlikely they will get any minutes on the pitch.

Here is how we expect Swansea to line up against Hull on Saturday evening:

Predicted Swansea Line-Up Against Hull City

Formation: 4-3-3

Lukasz Fabianski (GK)

The Polish shot-stopper has conceded the most number of goals (59) in the Premier League this season. Will be itching to keep a clean sheet.

Angel Rangel (RB)

The Spaniard is widely expected to come in at right-back, with first-choice defender Kyle Naughton most likely  to be unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

Federico Fernandez (CB)

The Argentine did not enjoy the best of outings against Burnley last weekend. He will be hoping to put in a much-improved performance on Saturday.

Alfie Mawson (CB)

The summer signing has been one of the best performers for Swansea this season and will partner Fernandez at the back against the Tigers.

Martin Olsson (LB)

The January arrival has made an immediate impact at the Liberty stadium and has put in some brilliant displays. Scored a goal last weekend and should start on the left-hand side of the defence.

Jack Cork (DM)

The captain’s presence in the middle of the park is extremely vital for Swansea. He does the dirty work in the midfield and he will be tasked with keeping the Hull midfield in check.

Leroy Fer (CM)

The Dutchman has been the driving force for Swansea in recent weeks and Clement will be looking at him to provide the thrust from the midfield.

Tom Carroll (CM)

The January signing has been a revelation after arriving from Tottenham. He will slot in alongside Fer and will provide the energy and the legs in the middle.

Wayne Routledge (RW)

The winger was left out of the line-up in favour of Luciano Narsingh last weekend. But he should be in for a return against Hull City.

Fernando Llorente (ST)

The Spaniard has hit a hot streak in recent weeks and has been scoring for fun of late. Having scored twice against Burnley, he will be hoping to continue the rich vein of form.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (LW)

The Icelandic international has been the main creative outlet for Swansea over the course of the season and is an undisputed starter.

Raghavendra Goudar

Mechanical Engineer, avid reader and a football fanatic.
