Projected Chelsea Line Up vs West Ham – Terry And Oscar Get Starts And Fabregas Falls Back To A Central Role

Share

After a brilliant start to the second half of this season’s EPL under Dutchman Guus Hiddink, Chelsea seems to be having a dip in form for the past few weeks. First they were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris St. Germain and then two days later they were knocked out of the FA cup as well by Everton. With that Chelsea have lost all hopes they had of landing any silverware this season.
However Guus Hiddink is still unbeaten in the league and will be looking to select the best 11 for the match against West Ham and try to continue his streak.

T. Courtois

He was quite good in the Everton match and was confident against Lukaku in few one on one situations. Both the goals scored against him were good goals and there was almost nothing that he could do about it.

C. Azpilicueta

The Spaniard was good in attack against PSG and bad defensively. Against Everton he did the reverse. Hiddink will be looking to start him and try and get a balanced performance out of him in both ends of the field.

G. Cahill

Was good against Lukaku especially in the second and made few good clearances. Cahill should be trying to improve his performances if he wants to make it to the starting 11 at Euros.

J. Terry

Terry made a comeback from injury and was introduced against Everton in the final few minutes of the match. Hiddink will be looking to start his regular captain at his regular position and stop with the make shift centre back he had in Ivanovic.

R. Kennedy

The young left back has impressed in both the matches against PSG and Everton. When he is in the mood, he has good runs going forward. Hiddink will be looking to build up on that.

N Matic

Matic started in the game against Everton. Although he was good on the ball and passed it around with a bit of ease, he didn’t create anything impressive. However he is known to be a shield in front of the defence and should get a start against West Ham particularly to mark out Dimitri Payet.

C. Fabregas

He looks more settled in a central role of late and performs well when partnered with Matic or Obi Mikel. When he is given a go at a more attacking role, he mostly fails to deliver. Hiddink will be looking to start the Spaniard in a central role alongside Matic who takes off some of the defensive duties from the Spaniard.

Pedro

Pedro has given decent performances out on the left on the last two occasions. He seems to be linking up well with Kennedy and had a couple of good runs going forward. Hiddink will be looking to continue the same as well in the match against West Ham.

Willian

He was good in the match against Chelsea and just okay against Everton. He is still Chelsea’s best performer this season and there is no doubt that he will start against West Ham.

Oscar

With Hazard asking for a break with complains of a groin injury, Brazilian Oscar might get a start in this game. He came off the bench against Everton in the 73rd minute of the match and was good on the ball for the time he played.

B. Traore

With Costa getting a red card against Everton, it is young Traore who should be getting a start. Although he is not a major player for the team yet, he was quite good against PSG. He also scored a stellar of a goal on his first start in the Premier league which was against Stoke a couple of weeks back.
