Predicted Tottenham Line Up To Play Against Sunderland: Dembele Returns, Trippier To Start

Share

Two defeats in the last three home fixtures of the Premier League does not do enough justice to how Spurs have been performing in recent times. Both defeats were late on and quite hard on the squad, but its business as usual when Sunderland would make the trip to North London with the Black Cats looking to get all three points in a push for safety.

This fixture earlier in the season was the first win of the season and played an instrumental cog in Spurs maintaining a long unbeaten run. Ryan Mason scored the winner last time round but it sure doesn’t seem like he will start this game.

Goal Keeper:

In goal will be club captain Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman will want to keep a clean sheet, especially against Defoe, a former teammate.

Defenders:

Kyle Walker had a bad game against Leicester and with Trippier growing in confidence with superb performances recently, the u21 England international will probably get the nod for this game. Toby and Jan should continue their awesome bromance and chemistry on pitch, which is the reason for Spurs having a very resilient and tight defence this season. Davies had a superb game against Leicester and kept the best winger in the league currently, in his pocket. The Welshman should probably continue in the XI.

Midfielders:

Eric Dier will play at CDM as usual and he has not put a foot wrong all season so far. Quite a rock. And with Dembele returning back from injury, he should join back with his midfield partner against Sunderland. Delle Alli had a silent game compared to his season, but he should play in the hole just behind the striker.

The flanks should have Son and Eriksen. The Dane was the first substitute on Wednesday, so he should be raring to go, while Lamela may just be rested. Chadli might even get a shot at a starting spot ahead of Eriksen. It will be an interesting last pick by Pochettino.

Forward:

There is no doubt on the striker. Harry Kane should start amidst the Real Madrid rumours but Kane seems to be set on having a long illustrious career at Spurs. Sunderland are struggling and Spurs are sitting comfortably in the top 4. No reason why Spurs should not take the 3 points. I say an easy win, a dominant one too.
