Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho faces a tricky home game against local rivals Fulham this Saturday in the first West London derby of the season. It has been rather a bizarre start to the campaign under Mourinho’s second tenure. With a host of young and talented players that have been roped in the summer, Mourinho and Co were expected to have a strong start to the season but instead the squad depth has backfired against them and Mourionho’s constant rotation policy has not allowed his players to settle down resulting in back to back defeats against Everton and Basel.
However, the Blues record at Stamford Bridge under Mourinho is impeccable and the Portuguese manager will look to extend his 62 match unbeaten streak.
As far as the team news in concerned, Chelsea have nobody out injured at the moment which will again likely give Mourinho selection headache ahead of the game. There is a real question about the strikers role as who amongst Torres, Ba and Eto’o would start. So far all of Mourinho’s strikers have not performed as he would have expected and it will be interesting to see the manager’s decision on this.
As far as the midfield is concerned, Willain who made his Chelsea debut against Basel, could also make his Premier League debut . Terry who missed the UCL action, could come back into the team.
Here is the primary projected lineup for the Blues, but another two options below are possible if Mourinho decides to rotate his squad
Although, the above line-up looks strong in all possible ways, Chelsea have a greater depth in their squad and Mourinho might be tempted to look into other options at his disposal. Here is a slightly modified version of the above team.
