Even the most loyal Liverpool supporters would say that the team’s performance has not been as expected and that the manager needs to do something in order to get things right. But then the team has already been hit by injury problems and the latest on the name is Spanish midfielder Suso who is out on a groin injury that will require surgery. He has joined a long list of players which includes Sakho, Glen Johnson, Emre Can, Joe Allen, and Jon Flanagan. But that cannot be the reason for such poor performance of Liverpool and they do have the squad strength to cope up with this.
Liverpool play against West Brom this weekend in the Premier League before the international break. Much talk will be about Daniel Sturridge on whether he will be in the England squad or not, but he has already been excluded by the Liverpool boss from this week. We make a predicted lineup for this week’s clash of Liverpool against West Brom.
Simon Mignolet will manage the goal for the side, at least for now, as Liverpool edge closer to a deal for Victor Valdes.
Alberto Moreno should make a return to the squad ahead of Jose Enrique for this match. Enrique was given a chance in the Champions League match against Basel, but the young Spaniard should replace his senior this week.
Elsewhere, Javier Manquillo has been one of the most consistent players and we may expect him at the right back this week. Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren should be the two centre backs for the side as Sakho is nurturing an injury and the manager does not trust Kolo Toure enough to make him one of the first choices.
The midfield trio should consist of the same players as Steven Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson. None of these players have been anything spectacular so far this season and most disappointingly Coutinho has lost all the creativity he showed in the preseason. But then the whole team has been below the level and Rodgers was forced to bring in Coutinho after taking him off the team for a couple of matches due to lack of proper replacement. The trio should be in there for this match as well and a lot will depend on them.
In Sturridge’s absence Mario Balotelli will be leading the line and this is high time he steps up. Rodgers was pretty critical about him in his latest press conference and stated that Balotelli was not the first choice for him to replace Suarez, but then he failed to bring in someone better.
Adam Lallana should be back in place of Lazar Markovic and the English player should be able to make another impressive performance like he did against Everton last week. Raheem Sterling will be other man in the attack for Liverpool and even he needs to do better than he is at the moment.
