Predicted Wigan Athletic line-up to face Swansea in the Championship

Wigan Athletic will be aiming to bounce back from consecutive defeats when they face Swansea City in the Championship on Tuesday.

Wigan went down to Norwich on Saturday and Paul Cook will expect his boys to put in an improved performance against the visiting Swansea side. The Swans, on the other hand, defeated QPR 3-0 on Saturday.

With both sides desperate for a win, expect a tough battle at the DW Stadium on Tuesday.

Team News

Callum McManaman returned to the side against Norwich after overcoming a thigh problem but was an unused substitute.

Gavin Massey has had a surgery on his hamstring and will be sidelined for three to four months, while Dan Burn is nearing full fitness after breaking his foot during pre-season.

Probable Wigan XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Paul Cook

Christian Walton (GK)

Walton would be desperate to keep a clean sheet on Tuesday when Wigan host Swansea.

Reece James (RB)

James continues to deliver fantastic performances at right-back. He is a certain starter for the midweek game.

Chey Dunkley (CB)

Dunkley is Wigan’s defensive wall, a player so crucial for Cook. He has been good so far this season and will look to continue his rich vein of form.

Cedric Kipre (CB)

Partnering Dunkley in central defence should be Kipre, who has been really solid in recent weeks for the Latics.

Antonee Robinson (LB)

Robinson is such a thrilling player to watch. The 21-year-old is a bundle of energy on the left for Wigan.

Sam Morsy (CM)

The Wigan skipper continues to do his job from the middle of the park. His presence in the engine room keeps Wigan ticking.

Darron Gibson (CM)

Gibson could be finally handed a start, against the in-form Swansea side. His experience and dynamism would be required in the midfield if Wigan are to win three points on Tuesday.

Josh Windass (RW)

Starting on the right wing would be Windass, who needs to start getting more involved in the game. He is such a quality player but has done very little for Wigan since joining them in the summer.

Nick Powell (CAM)

Powell is Wigan’s most lethal weapon going forward. He can change the course of the game in one blink of an eye and Cook will need his star performer to deliver against the Swans.

Michael Jacobs (LW)

Jacobs has been a permanent fixture in the Wigan side this season and he’ll start on Tuesday against Swansea.

Will Grigg (ST)

Leading Wigan’s attack on Tuesday should be Grigg, who needs to step up and start scoring goals which he is generally known for.
