Arsene Wenger has finally managed to stitch a couple of victories together but his side’s start to the Premier League campaign has been nothing but inconsistent. The manager spent a decent amount of money on his squad but does not seem to have taken the club any closer to a league title.

Even before the start of the season, Wenger’s job at the club was under threat. He only signed a contract extension, amidst loads of controversies, to extend his stay at the Emirates without much change. Yet, there is a wide consensus that he might not stay at the helm at Arsenal for too long.

One of the major reasons why Arsenal decided not to sack Wenger was the lack of a natural replacement for the French gaffer. Some of the biggest names in world football were already taken and it would have been suicidal for the Gunners if they decided to part ways with Wenger, without a proper replacement.

However, one Carlo Ancelotti has now suddenly become available, after his failed start to the domestic campaign in Germany with Bayern Munich. The German giants lost 3-0 to PSG in the group stages away from home and that, coupled with a slow start to the domestic campaign made sure that the Italian parted ways with the Bundesliga champions.

The Bavarians failed to win much under Ancelotti apart from the league title and there could be little complaints about his sacking. However, is he an option Arsenal can look at?

Having won the Ligue1, Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga titles as a manager, the 58-year old Italian tactician is one of the most decorated managers in the world of football at the moment. Before managing Bayern, he worked with Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus and PSG, and succeeded in most of his endeavours.

He is a smart manager who emphasises on playing to his team’s strengths. He has a unique way of getting results even against the best of sides and is a manager who can definitely challenge for the Premier League title if he’s given the resources available at the Emirates.

However, throughout his career, he has not stayed at one club for more than three years and is a manager who does not sustain success over a long period. Arsene Wenger and his legacy are surely coming to an end soon but Arsenal are better off finding a manager who can start a new long-term project rather than a temporary fix, which Ancelotti is.

The former Chelsea man cannot take Arsenal to new heights in a short span nor can he sustain that over a long period. He may help them to a couple of cup wins but is just not the man who can do a better job than Wenger.
