Chelsea are all set to make a move for Argentine international Ezequiel Garay, before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. The Telegraph has now reported that the west London side could turn to the Zenit St Petersburg star as an alternative target to Everton’s John Stones, as the Merseyside club have been adamant on retaining their defender this summer.
Stones had himself put in a transfer request to move to Stamford Bridge, though it was rejected by the Toffees and the Blues are looking elsewhere to strengthen their squad.
That is the exact reason why the Portuguese boss is now chasing Garay, who is at present under the guidance of former Chelsea and Spurs’ boss Andre Villas-Boas and could prove a great asset to the Premier League champions.
Jorge Mendes, Mourinho’s agent, also looks after Garay, though whether a deal works out for the 28-year old defensive superstar or not remains to be seen still.
