Predicted Manchester United Lineup To Face Huddersfield Town In The Premier League

Manchester United take on Huddersfield Town to play for all 3 points after a hard defeat at the hands of Tottenham in the midweek. They were barely able to thread passes together and were often made to play the long ball. José’s side has a point to prove as they were out-muscled at Wembley.

In the reverse fixture, the Terriers enjoyed a historic win to cause one of the biggest upsets of the season but given their recent dent in form, the Red Devils are favourites to send them packing from Old Trafford. Huddersfield beat United away from home way back in September 1930. Since then, they have drawn five and lost nine.

Team News

Marouane Fellaini is mostly ruled out after he took a blow during his cameo at Wembley. Daley Blind is supposed to return and should be in the mix on Matchday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly are out on long-term basis.

Probable Manchester United XI

José will be desperate to get back to winning ways and reproduce the consistency they had earlier this season. As they need to win, he may not field a much changed side. However, some notable alterations could be seen. They will hope to let the likes of Matic and Pogba see more of the ball, carry it forward and complete crucial passes, something that didn’t happen against Spurs.

Manager: Jose Mourinho

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK: David De Gea

The most consistent performer in Manchester United’s ranks will guard the sticks. A sure starter.

RB: Antonio Valencia

Valencia was sound against Spurs and will look to advance forward more often against this week’s opponents.

CB: Victor Lindelöf

Given the embarrassment that United centre-backs faced against Tottenham, Jose could look to rest his players and test his second options such as Lindelöf. The youngster is well organised, sharp and has resurrected his career at Manchester.

Victor Lindelof

CB: Marcus Rojo

Rojo will accompany Lindelöf as a part of the rotation and has a job on his hands, to be alert and aware.

LB: Luke Shaw

The pace, energy and quality crosses of Luke Shaw should be seen down the left-hand side. He has improved and gone up the pecking order recently.

CM: Nemanja Matic

After a horrendous performance against Spurs, Matic must live up to his expectation and reputation.

CM: Paul Pogba

Pogba needs to put everything else aside and focus on the fact that this team is built around him. He should start alongside Matic.

Alexis Sanchez

LW: Marcus Rashford

Rashford is most likely to be given an opportunity and will have to prove his worth and be direct.

CAM: Alexis Sanchez

He needs to get his lustre back and it will be interesting to see how he responds after the Tottenham defeat.

RW: Juan Mata

Mata should replace Martial down the right. The Spaniard produces better long balls and has the right vision to beat any side.

ST: Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku will lead the attack and well, no one has to give an account of what he needs to do – score goals and put up acceptable performances. He needs to run down the channels, find empty pockets of space and attack the ball better.
