More Pochettino Wonders – 3 Tottenham Youngsters Who Could Make Their Debuts Next Season

Tottenham Hotspur didn’t have a finish they would have hoped for, but the side still qualified for the Champions League. Now the task will be more difficult for Pochettino’s men as the big European nights will be hosted at White Hart Lane and the manager will have his work cut out for.

Pochettino will be one of the busiest men in the coming transfer window as he will be looking forward to bring some reinforcements to the squad. With Champions League on the cards, English teams usually suffer the congested fixture pileup and that’s why, the teams need a bigger squad.

Spurs were brilliant in the last season. From Lloris to Kane, everyone was exceptional in doing their job. The task of battling for the English crown will be laborious as some big managerial names have arrived in the country.

We saw the growth of Marcus Rashford, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho last term, and in the coming season, we might witness another name from the Tottenham side who could top the youth ranks in the Premier League.

1. Cameron Carter-Vickers-

The 18-year-old center back has already represented the United States of America’s under-23 squad. Cameron Carter-Vickers is a strong and muscular built defender. He has been training with the first team since the beginning of last season and the Argentine boss is very impressed with the teenager.

Just like his teammate Toby Alderweireld, Carter-Vickers is a ball playing center half who loves to rush forward at times. He has the potential to break into the first team action, and might get his chance sooner rather than later. Cameron stands at 6-feet and is capable of making some exceptional tackles at times.

2. Kyle Walker-Peters-

The 18-year-old Edmonton-born full-back is surely a fan favourite at White Hart Lane.  He is the only academy player for whom, the fans have jingled a chant: “There’s only two Kyle Walkers.” Peters made his senior debut in the team’s post-season trip to Malaysia and Australia in the summer back in May 2015, but is yet to feature in the premier league.

Peters was sent on trial to Roda JC few months ago, but the player rejected the loan move to the Dutch side in order to remain with the club. He might not get the first team opportunity that easily as the side has settled on the English international Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier, but he might represent the team in the domestic cup ties as the manager will be looking to avoid fatigue to the senior players.

3. Nathan Oduwa-

The 20-year-old English winger joined Tottenham Hotspur at the age of 11 and progressed through their youth ranks. He spent 3 loan terms in his Tottenham career till date; joined League Two club Luton Town back in February 2015 and then, signed for Scottish Championship club Rangers back in August 2015 and on February 2016, he was sent to League One club Colchester United on a one month loan.

In January 2016, Pochettino recalled the 20-year-old Englishman from Rangers due to the Scottish club’s interest in permanently signing winger Michael O’Halloran. Oduwa is the only academy player who is yet to sign a senior offer from the club. The 20-year-old was widely known for his versatility in Scotland. Oduwa also has the pace, technique and the footballing mind that could make him a great player one day.
