Chelsea had an excellent win at the weekend, beating Liverpool to really put themselves back in contention for 4th place in the league. They were fantastic against the Champions League finalists, staying compact in the middle and playing to Giroud’s strengths up top. It really was the complete team performance.
Huddersfield come into this game having taken a vital point from Manchester City but they are still in that relegation quagmire and a point or three here would confirm their Premier League status and take the pressure off.
Has had a decent season for Chelsea and is in good form at the moment. It will be interesting to see what happens with him in the summer.
The central defender had an excellent game against Liverpool last time out and will be looking to keep up that level of performance until the end of the season.
Gary Cahill (CB)
Cahill is the old guard at Chelsea now and knows what is required of him in the Chelsea backline. He put in a good performance against Liverpool and will be looking for more of the same.
Azpilicueta has had an excellent season for Chelsea and when he is not defending excellently, he puts the ball onto Alvaro Morata’s head for him to score. He is a commanding presence at the back.
Alonso is a fantastic player in the left wing-back position. Adds some real quality out wide for Chelsea.
Moses has been a hit and miss season for Chelsea this season. When he’s in form, he’s unplayable but there have been too many games this season where he has gone missing. Will be looking to get back to form.
Fabregas hasn’t had the best of seasons for Chelsea. The playmaker has been a bit off the boil and only has 2 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances this term. A position that Chelsea should well try to strengthen in the summer.
One of the best defensive midfielders in the world and he has looked a class above in the middle of the park for Chelsea. Makes his teammates look better as he breaks up the attacks and gets the ball forward quickly to the more offensive players in the team.
Eden Hazard (CAM)
Has not been the best of seasons for Hazard but the fact that he still has 12 goals and 4 assists despite this speaks volumes about the quality player that he is.
Hasn’t played too much for Chelsea this season but when he has played, he’s always been a live wire. His direct pace and skill frighten the defenders and he is a big asset to the team.
Giroud is what Giroud is – a fantastic header of the ball. You put the ball into the box and he is always a threat. He may not be the best in other aspects of the game but his finishing is all Chelsea need him for and he has scored some vital goals this season since arriving in January.
