Should Manchester United’s Special One Sell This Pacey Winger To Watford?

Share

It’s always nice to be back home, and some players that struggle to get some playing time in their current teams should always be considered by their former teams and bosses, as they know they could be more than willing to go back to the place where they grew and develop as a player.

This kind of things happens the most when guys start aging and can’t play at the same level they used to, so a move to a team where they could be looked up to instead of being sent to the bench, is often a great boost for their confidence and can help them get their careers back on the right track after a couple of subpar years.

That’s the current situation of Manchester United’s winger Ashley Young, as the 31-year-old is not being considered by Jose Mourinho after a pair of mediocre performances (And seasons, for that matter) for the Red Devils, and there have been some reports that Walter Mazzarri and his Watford are keen to bring him back home.

Ashley Young made his professional debut for Watford 14 years ago, where he played four years and scored 22 goals in 110 appearances before being sold to Aston Villa, where he looked like he was going to be a great offensive player, convincing Sir Alex Ferguson to bring him to Old Trafford, where he never looked comfortable.

So, after only being featured in 8 games (with just 4 starts) so far this season under Jose Mourinho, and considering that the Portuguese boss is reportedly looking to add even more players to his squad during this upcoming transfer window, the future doesn’t seem so bright for Young at Old Trafford right now, and he’s reportedly considering his options for this winter transfer window.

In that matter, the 31 year old veteran should really consider to go back home, as Watford is currently a pretty decent team that ain’t on a relegation scramble and seems determined to get better and better as weeks go by, and mentoring those youngsters while being able to contribute on the pitch would be great for Young.

Ashley was never able to live up to the expectations that surrounded him as a talented forward, and his game never actually developed to what we all expected he could be, but he’s still a decent player with something to prove and can actually provide a lot of help to a lesser team as Watford.

Manchester United should definitely let this guy go, as he’s not going to be considered at all by the Special One and they can still get a little bit of cash out of him, and there won’t be a perfect destination for him than Watford; where he walked his first steps as a football player.

So, if you’re an Ashley Young fan at Manchester United (something that doesn’t seem very likely), it seems like it’s time to say goodbye and thank you for his services.
