Manchester United Latest: Paul Scholes Dreams About Fabregas And Former Everton Man Talks About His Life At Old Trafford

Manchester United midfield legend Paul Scholes affirms that signing Cesc Fabregas would be the best thing that can happen in this transfer window for the Red Devils. After David Moyes, this former player seems to be affectionate of the Spaniard.

Considered as one of the Fergie’s fledglings, Paul Scholes started his career at United in 1994-95. A prolific talent, he has remained a regular player for the team until 2011 when he first declared his retirement. But later he re-joined in January 2012 and for the second and final time, announcing his retirement at the end of last season. He represented Red Devils for more than 700 matches in his glittering career and scored 155 goals. He has remained a member of eleven Premier League winning squad and two Champions League medal hangs in his trophy cabinet.

After his retirement, Scholes feels that a versatile and experience player is needed in the midfield. According to him, Cesc Fabregas will be the right option for the Red Devils.

In an interview to Sportsmail, Scholes said:

“I think that there are a lot of players at United who have left United are never really missed because the club always seem to kick on. Cesc Fabregas is a top, top player, he has been with Arsenal, he knows the Premiership and it would be a dream really to sign somebody like that. He is a player who can score goals and has set them up for Robin van Persie. That would be nice and hopefully we can do it.”

In addition to that, Scholes was also concerned about Rooney’s unwillingness to stay at United. According to him, keeping Rooney is also soliciting for the benefit of the club.

Scholes explained: “I wouldn’t want him to leave. To me, Manchester United is the best club in the world and whenever you leave this club, you go down. But it’s not the same with all players and not everyone feels that way about the club.”

After replacing Ferguson, David Moyes had two important tasks in his hands. One is to nullify the void of Scholes and the other is to keep Rooney at the club. Both the tasks are in turmoil till the date. Whereas Barcelona remains stubborn, Rooney still wants to move away.

In other news, former United left back Phil Neville has admitted that he is enjoying himself in his new role at the club. Having spent eleven years at Old Trafford before joining Everton, the brother of Gary Neville has returned this year as a first-team coach. And it is believed that he may play an important role in David Moyes’ managerial team in the near future.

“There is no question this is the dream job for me,” Neville told United’s official website. When I left eight years ago I always said I wanted to come back to United in some capacity one day. I knew it was probably never going to be as a player so being a coach was the next step.

“There was never a day that went by where I wasn’t keeping an interest in what was going on at United and to come back now is the most perfect scenario for me.”
