Manchester United club legend Gary Neville has stated that he believes a player like Wayne Rooney must not leave Manchester United. The defender, who has been a tremendous server for the Red Devils, believes that playing for Manchester United is the ultimate goal for any player and Rooney should not run away from the opportunity. In an interview with Talksport Neville has stated that:
“I played with Wayne Rooney for many, many years. He’s a fantastic football player. I’ve seen David Beckham, and other big players, leave Manchester United and it really is something that comes down to the individual and the club. Personally, with my allegiances, I would never recommend anyone leave Manchester United because I believe it to be a great stage to play football and you can achieve what you want there”.
Wayne Rooney had wanted to leave the club and in that matter handed the club a transfer request which Sir Alex Ferguson literally admitted. But Sir Alex mentioned that the club was in no mood to part ways with the England striker and believed that the forward’s future lay at United.
With the acquisition of Robin Van Persie from Arsenal the previous season, Wayne Rooney’s role had reduced in the club gradually and the Dutchman formed the central figure of attack at the club. Rooney was also sent to the bench on occasions, which had not been taken in the right spirit by Rooney.
A number of clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG have been attached to the player and it is being speculated that Rooney may leave the club before the end of summer. Manager David Moyes has expressed his desire to talk with the player and convince him to stay at the club, but till now no positive indication has been sent from the player’s end.

The Spain U21 international keeper now earns £55k per week from the club which is set to be £75k after the rise.
