Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool Stars Feature In The Top 4 January Transfer Signings From The Past

Share

Usually the January transfer window is reckoned as the time when managers rarely are willing to splash the cash. We do see panic buys often but over the years the number has drastically reduced thanks to the fiscal ramification of that available player. It is definitely hard to asses signings, but we have taken time to present his for our readers the four best January Transfer signings in the Premier League. An efficient scouting network can help buying players over the course of time and based on that we have made this non exhaustive list. Feel free to slate us and pitch in with your selections in this section. So here is Soccersouls’ very own list.

Nemanja Vidic (Spartak Moscow to Manchester United):

“You only know the worth of a person when he is gone” Manchester United fans would surely be sighing this amongst each other when Nemanja Vidic finally calls it a day. The Serbian joined the Red Devils from Spartak Moscow in 2006 for a meagre £7m  in the January Transfer window. Vidic has gone on the win the Premier League as astonishing five times in his current tenure of eight years while he is also a Champions league winner.

Gary Cahill (Bolton Wanderers to Chelsea):

A mainstay of the current Chelsea defence, Englishman Gary Cahill was drafted into the Chelsea side in 2012 during the unceremonious reign of Andre Villas Boas at Stamford Bridge. A wonderful defender who can read the game to the best of his ability and is a no nonsense centre back when it comes to clearing danger. Cahill is one of the rare breed of defenders who love to have the ball at their feet and are equally at passing the ball, possessing sublime vision. What more when he is a serious threat from set pieces and strike from range too.

Micheal Dawson (Nottingham Forest to Tottenham):

Drafted in from Nottingham Forest, Tottenham’s Micheal Dawson is probably the best piece of business Spurs have done in the last few years. The Englishman has been Tottenham’s best defender now in quite a while and was rewarded with the player of the year in 2009-10. Brilliant on the air, Dawson makes up for his lack of pace by being immaculate on his awareness and positioning. Surely deserved to be in our list. Do you beg to differ?

Luis Suarez (Ajax Amsterdam to Liverpool):

Who else but him? Surely has to be in our list even if we make it with our eyes closed. He was known as the bitter before he stepped in England and has been controversy’s favourite son since then. But hey! Why are we talking about this? Coming to his football, he is simply outrageous, a genius in his own right and perhaps the best player Liverpool has bought in the last decade. The Uruguayan ware wolf at Anfield. Surely I for one wuldn’t be surprised if Suarez is shortlisted among the top three for next year’ Ballon D’Or.

Honourbale mentions: Branislav Ivanovic, Philippe Coutinho, Patrice Evra
