Manchester United Blog: 3 Super Strikers Who Could Form A Great Partnership With Martial

Share

There was a time not too long ago that strikers came in pairs, we remember the good old days of watching Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole doing the business for Manchester United or that one season where Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge plundered goals for the Red of Liverpool. These days it is a game of one striker and the rest of the team helping him out.

There are still teams that prefer playing with two out and out attackers, Manchester United being one of them but they haven’t been able to click that well this season. Wayne Rooney looks a shadow of himself for the team and could well need to be replaced. Anthony Martial seems to be playing great at the moment, or at least in some games he has shown what he can do with the ball at his feet.

The Frenchman can play the through ball or can run down the channels and stretch defences, he also has great pace which makes him a threat with a high ball but which striker could make a great partnership with the French star at Manchester United?

3. Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard left Real Madrid and joined Juventus leading to instant success but with the arrival of Dybala at the club, he could face some restrictions in playing time in a season or two. The Spaniard is known for his ability to hold the ball and finish with style and that could work great with Martial.

The Frenchman might be known for his pace and playing with someone who is a bit of a brute can help them strive.  United should make the right bid soon and snatch a prized possession from Italy to England.

2. Karim Benzema

What better way to help one fellow Frenchman out in scoring goals than by pairing him with another? Karim Benzema might be in a bit of a soup regarding some rather tasteless things off the field, but he is one of the most dangerous attackers on the pitch.

The Real Madrid star has always scored goals wherever he has been and that would be no different at Manchester United. The two Frenchmen have great movement and playing together would only increase their understanding. Both have decent pace as well and can run the channels extremely well, they are great passers of the ball too and could well work if Benzema finally does make his move to England.

  1. Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain might be a bit hit or miss, well Argentina fans would think so at least but he does have talent and when he plays at his best there is no one better than him. This season has been something like that as he has fired Napoli to the top of the Serie A.

Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentine would make a great partnership with Martial, but he would have to play as the furthest attacker who runs onto the passes by Martial. Napoli might not want to sell him at the moment but if United make a great offer for the 27-year-old, a deal could well happen.
