After a full of emotions, amazing games and unpredictable year, it is now time to select players who have provided best football in their performances in 2013.
Here is the Best XI of the Year 2013:
After stepping into Van Der Sar’s big shoes De Gea struggled in the Premier League goal, however the Spaniard has now gained experience, growing into one of the top goalkeepers of the league and helping Manchester United reclaim the league title last season.
According to manager David Moyes, De Gea had won Manchester United ‘big points‘ this season and is now regarded as one of the club’s best players, as valuable as strikers Wayne Rooney or Robin van Persie.
The most effective right-back in the Premier League, both at the back and forward. Zabaleta is a player which Manuel Pellegrini can depend on, as the Argentinean showed an excellent and consistent form during the whole year 2013. Zabaleta has also been voted the 2012/13 Etihad Manchester City FC Player of the Year by the club’s fans.
The former Ajax player after arriving at White Hart Lane last season has showed great defense, including his heading skills. The Belgium international has also adapted as a defensive midfielder and has been frequently joining his teammates in attack.
Kompany joins his international mate Vertonghen as the second central defender thanks to his performances in 2013 and is said to be the Premier League’s center back. The Belgian powerhouse has had a wonderful year, what has been highlighted against Liverpool on the Boxing Day, when he prevented Luis Suarez from scoring and found the net himself.
Undoubtedly Baines is the current leading left back in the Premier League, as he extended his great form from the last season, showing efficency in every match he plays.
Perfect midfielder. Why? Yaya Toure has shined ever since he had joined Manchester City. With amazing technique, strength and creativity the Ivorian has ruled the Premier League midfield in 2013, working hard from box to box.
It’s difficult not to include this man after all he had done for Tottenham in 2013. The Welsh international led Tottenham to a strong, fifth position in the Premier League last season, scoring 17 in 25 games after the turn of the year.
A great combination of speed and control. Eden Hazard has been a great playmaker and has shown intelligence in the midfield during the last year. Just like Lionel Messi, the Belgian breezes past his opponents and has scored some memorable goals by himself.
The Argentinean has been a goal-scoring machine for the Citizens in 2013 and along with Alvaro Negredo is a nightmare for the majority of the Premier League defenders. This man has been a regular goal-scorer, unstoppable and effective.
The Dutch forward has scored the biggest number of goals in the Premier League in 2013. He is a clinical finisher, a player without who’s help Manchester United could have difficulties in winning the league. At the age of 30 the Dutchman is still in great shape and as an experienced striker is looking forward to another successful year.
Luis has been in stunning form this season so far, being the Premier League’s top-scorer and leading Liverpool to the top of the table. Suarez surely is a controversial footballer, but when it comes to scoring goals very few can stop him.
