Man United Transfers: Three Midfielders To Look At For The January Transfer Window

Share

With domestic troubles hurting Manchester United’s season and David Moyes’ reputation, the midfield is the main source of the problem, as they currently lack creativity and solidity. We present you with three options that Moyes can look into come this January.

Wesley Sneijder

A target for Manchester United for quite a while now, former Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder has come under the microscope once again at Old Trafford. After saying he was happy at Galatasaray, it is unlikely he would want to make the move to the struggling English champions, as it is likely that they will not participate in the Champions League next season. If he was to make the move to Old Trafford, it would more than likely take place after the world cup, as he will not want to ruin his chances of making it to Brazil this summer.

Albeit, the Independent has reported that Manchester United will reignite interest in the Galatasaray midfielder during the January window in a bid to solve  their midfield crisis. According to the same report from Independent, Sneijder has a release clause of £13m which would not prove to be a deal breaker for the Red Devils as the former Inter Milan man would add a certain degree of attacking flair that none of their current midfielders possess. Sneijder playing alongside Carrick in the heart of United’s midfield would certainly be more attractive then the likes of Tom Cleverley and the aged Ryan Giggs.

Ross Barkley

In truth, Ross Barkley isn’t going to solve many of United’s problems. He is a young English midfielder, and therefor the British press want him to be linked with the Premier League’s big clubs, so they make it happen. He is still young and can progress, as his transfer would echo the signing of Wayne Rooney, it may also mirror the huge price tag. Barkley hasn’t been bad this season and is currently looking like the best young player England has to offer. Though it is not certain if Barkley is the name Moyes must bring in when January rolls around, as Shinji Kagawa’s transfer was eclipsed by Eden Hazard signing for Chelsea and Santi Cazorla transferring to Arsenal. It may happen again, as Chelsea have been linked with moves for Cavani and Falcao, and with Arsenal searching for a new striker, Barkley will not quite cut it.

Everton Ribeiro

Brazilian midfielder Everton Ribeiro is the latest talent in the Brazilian Serie A to impress and gain interest from larger European clubs, and Manchester United are one of the names on the list of clubs chasing him. The playmaker helped Cruzeiro to their first ever Brazilian league title, and although this may be good news for his side, it is bad news for the Old Trafford based side, as his market value will have soared. It will most likely command a bid of around £10m to prize him away from the Belo Horizonte club.

However, Ribeiro looks like he is very much interested in joining Manchester United and solve the midfield problems which for starters looks to be on the positive side of things. The Dailymail have quoted Ribeiro as saying:

‘I feel I am ready to play in any part of the world. If you play for Cruzeiro, you can play in any place. I would fit in any part of the midfield. I would do well as a playmaker to support the attack.’

Asked if he will be playing alongside Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, the midfielder said: ‘It would be great.

‘I let my agent and Cruzeiro talk about that. When they feel it’s good for both parties, they will let me know. I’ll see and we’ll analyse everything.’

He is a Brazilian, very much interested in joining the squad and has just helped his side lift the league trophy. What are you waiting for Moyes?
