Manchester United are in trouble and that is something that they cannot go through, especially given the kind of club they are. The Red Devils are amongst Premier League’s best sides when it comes to history.
But since losing Sir Alex Ferguson, nothing has gone according to plan for the club. Instead, they’ve managed to finish in rather miserable positions, making a Champions League spot just twice since then.
This includes a 5th-place finish, two 6th-place finishes and a 7th-place finish, which is rather disappointing for a club like Manchester United.
The closest they did come to a title was last season under Jose Mourinho, but nothing happened due to Manchester City’s dominance. Things need to change for the club and the only way they can do that is by moving forward and stop adding players well past their best.
That includes Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and even Lee Grant. To make things even worse, Metro has revealed that Romelu Lukaku has agreed to personal terms with Inter Milan.
That does leave the club reeling and they need replacements. While Lukaku wasn’t a big part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, Marcus Rashford was. The 21-year-old did well with the time and the chances that were created for him, but then started struggling.
Whatever the issue was, the English international couldn’t cope with it and that saw Manchester United struggle. While Rashford could become one of the best prospects that Manchester United ever have, he needs help.
That help was supposed to come from Romelu Lukaku but with him looking likely to leave, it’s the time that Manchester United re-ignite a move for Mauro Icardi.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Argentine in the past and they need him. Arguably one of the best strikers in world football, the 26-year-old is clinical and is a potent finisher who makes the most out of even half chances.
Icardi moved to Sampdoria early in his career to hone his skills and that worked beautifully. He scored 19 and 10 goals in his final two seasons, before the move to Inter.
Things improved even more there, with Icardi scoring 9, 27, 18, 24, 35 and 17 goals, which is an absolutely ridiculous average for any player. That’s just what Manchester United need and his physical ability would help the Argentine transit from the Serie A to the Premier League.

Mauro Icardi is one of the world’s foremost strikers in the world and it has been absolutely wonderful to watch him destroy defences in the Serie A. Whether or not he can do that in the Premier League is a great question, but it’s a risk that Manchester United have to take.
