Man City shouldn’t stand in the way of their 33-year-old legend should he accept £6m-a-year offer and move on

Manchester City opinion: David Silva getting offers from Qatar – Good move?

According to a report in Sun, David Silva could have played his last game for Manchester City after being tempted by a lucrative £12m offer from a club in Qatar.

As per the report, the English treble winners are chasing Youri Tielemans as a possible replacement for the Spaniard. Therefore, it won’t be too wrong to say that the 33-year-old could on his way out of Manchester this summer. (h/t Sun)

Silva has been at the Etihad since 2010 and won four Premier League titles, along with several other domestic cup competitions. His role in getting Manchester City to play the best possible football is paramount, to say the least.

He has now got a £6m-a-year offer from Qatar, which is effectively the double of his wages at City, just because it is tax-free. (h/t Sun)

Here’s why the Cityzens and Silva parting ways would be good for all parties:

An ideal time to part ways

David Silva has been one of the greats to not only this Manchester City team for the past nine years, but also to the Premier League. His ability on the ball in the attacking midfield zone is right up there with the best.

The good thing about his game is the consistency, hence, the team can bank on him to produce the goods, even though things may go the other way in certain games.

Now, at the age of 33, it is easy to understand that the former Spain international wouldn’t be able to play games week in week out from next season onwards.

Manager Pep Guardiola did play Phil Foden in some games, probably to look at how the young Englishman would be coping if Silva is not around. Furthermore, as mentioned, City would look for replacements in the market as well.

Conclusion

Hence, all in all, this seems the right time for David Silva to leave Manchester City. The club has benefited from his nine years of service, and they can now look to build for the future.

From the player’s point of view, going to Qatar would take some pressure off him as a player. He can go there, enjoy his football and the latter stage of his career.
