Liverpool made easy work of David Moyes’ West Ham as goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane helped Klopp’s men go home with 3 very valuable points.
Liverpool had a sparkling start to the game when Mohamed Salah’s strike hit the woodwork. But they lost the plot to some extent a few minutes later and Marko Arnautovic almost punished them on the counter with a stupendous chipped effort which, however, did not go in, thanks to Loris Karius’ fingertip and the crossbar.
The Reds finally broke the deadlock around the half-an-hour mark when Mo Salah’s exquisite corner was headed home by Emre Can. There were a few more chances to go ahead but the first-half ended 1-0 in favour of the Merseysiders.
West Ham felt the urge of playing with more attacking intent after the break but opened up space for Liverpool, which made things easier for the hosts. Mo Salah soon doubled the lead off a brilliant assist from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Roberto Firmino then made it 3-0 from Can’s pass.
Although Michail Antonio pulled one back seconds later, the Reds managed to restore their 3-goal cushion when an outstanding Andrew Robertson placed the ball perfectly for Sadio Mane to tap in from close range. Mane, who previously hit the woodwork, made no mistake this time and sealed the deal for the Reds who are now placed second behind Manchester City in the league tally.
Was a little too adventurous while distributing the balls but made a sensational first-half stop to deny Marko Arnautovic from an excellent chipped effort.
Had a few duels with veteran Patrice Evra but the local lad did extremely well down the right-hand side and maintained his defensive composure along with attacking contributions. Impressed with his crosses, passing traits and overlapping runs inside the West Ham box.
Was calm and composed, made some crucial interceptions, and did well to contain Marko Arnautovice except a few nervy moments initially.
Has brought back the Reds’ much-needed defensive stability as he maintained an aerial supremacy throughout the game. He never let the visitors have space or create enough chances by playing one-twos around the Liverpool box.
Probably the best left-back in the league right now who is equally effective in the attack as well as the defence. He dominated the left flank for the entire game and made it extremely difficult for Pablo Zabaleta to have forward runs in order to create chances. His crosses, passing, link-up play and work ethics were exquisite and he got his reward by assisting Sadio Mane with a sublime ball from the left-wing.
Although failed to win a 50-50 battle with Cheikhou Kouyaté that resulted in Antonio’s goal, the German international was excellent otherwise and instigated the Reds’ thumping victory by breaking the deadlock from a header that went straight into the back of the net. He then assisted Roberto Firmino with a stunning pass and kept on creating chances throughout the game.
Was everywhere on the pitch as he kept on making attacking contributions. He also performed his midfield duties by tracking down the visitors, dispossessing them in the middle of the park and switching the game to the flanks.
Had a quiet first half but lifted his game after the break as he did extremely well to assist Mohamed Salah to double the lead. Came close to scoring and broke down the Hammers backline on another occasion.
Hit the woodwork, wasted a few glorious opportunities but assisted Emre Can from a sensational corner kick and kept his composure to make it 2-0. Just another routine performance from Liverpool’s ‘Egyptian King’.
Was not at his best, wasted some glorious opportunities but found the back of the net via a simple tap-in before leaving the pitch in the closing minutes.
Scored a goal after beating goalkeeper Adrian with ease. He should have scored another one before being replaced by Adam Lallana in the closing minutes.
Was a late substitution and kept on impressing with his footwork and sparkling moves around the box.
Was introduced in the 87th minute in place of Sadio Mane.
