Liverpool Transfers: 3 Realistic Targets That Jurgen Klopp Should Import From Dortmund

Share

Liverpool fans must be jumping with joy, not only have they got one of the most eccentric and enthusiastic managers of the current generation but there is genuine optimism around the club after the sacking of Rodgers. While Liverpool are still taking on the Klopp way of playing football, there have been some great signs such as the away wins at Chelsea and Manchester City.

The fans will also be buoyed with some great news that Klopp stated in a recent interview, he can sign players from his old club as there is no clause stopping him from doing so. Don’t really need to put any introduction into this, let’s look at three players that could actually join the Reds from Dortmund.

  1. Neven Subotic

Liverpool need a good central defender, although Dejan Lovren has looked decent under Klopp, he is prone to the odd mistake or two. Jurgen Klopp has to ensure that there is a lot of solidity at the back and with Martin Skrtel being the one fit defender most seasons; Klopp needs to bring in Subotic.

The Serbian hasn’t played much under new Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and a reunion would be great under Klopp. Jurgen knows Subotic really well and at only 26-years-old, he could do extremely well for the Liverpool team for a few years to come. The price point might be an issue but if FSG want to back Klopp, he should be given the chance to buy his own players rather than just use the hand-downs from the previous manager.

2. Marco Reus

Marco Reus

The one player that everyone would want to see at Liverpool would be Reus. The attacker might have had a poor time with injuries last season but this season he has been on fire under Tuchel and would make a great addition to Liverpool, who need a decent winger.

Speed, ability to finish and a team player, Reus has everything to succeed in the Premier League. The transfer fee might be a bit steep, but you have to pay that amount to get the best players into the team. If there is one position apart from the central defenders, it is the wings which need a bit of touch-up at Liverpool and that can easily be done by Reus.

3. Sven Bender

The need for a world-class central midfielder is another important region that Liverpool have to strengthen, the Reds might have the services of Lucas Leiva and Emre Can but the need for someone who can play at his best all the time is extremely important.

Sven Bender is a player who has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the days of the PlayStation 3 and that could actually come true with Klopp managing the Reds. Bender hasn’t played the most minutes under Tuchel and he might have a bit of an injury record but he is one of the best on his day and certainly can give Lucas and Can a run for their money at Liverpool.
