Liverpool opinion: Should the Reds sign Houssem Aouar?

According to a report from French publication Le10 Sport, Liverpool boss Jurgen target has identified Lyon’s midfield prodigy Houssem Aouar as a target for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Frenchman has been a metronome for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

The report reveals that the Reds are making a push to acquire the services of the 20-year-old in the summer but Lyon have closed the door on his departure from the club at the end of the season.

However, Liverpool, with their financial power should be able to force the French giants to sell their star in the summer. The Reds have a great chance to win both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

However, with Manchester City and Barcelona being a huge obstacle in their path to both trophies, Liverpool should further strengthen their squad in the summer to continue being a force next season.

James Milner could be out of the club with his current deal with the Reds expiring in the summer. The Englishman has been a tremendous servant for the Reds since 2015 and has offered lots of versatility to their squad.

The Reds will need another versatile midfielder, who is capable of filling in the shoes of Milner, and Houssem Aouar would be the ideal candidate. The Frenchman has played everywhere across the central midfield and also on the left flank this season and has performed brilliantly.

Aouar’s performance against Catalan giants Barcelona caught the attention of the world, as he helped his side achieve an incredible 0-0 draw at home.

The 20-year-old was left out on the bench in the reverse tie, which compromised Lyon’s midfield and Barca ran riot with a 5-1 victory on the night.

Aouar has shown incredible maturity for his age and his positional discipline makes it hard to believe that he’s only 20 years old. The youngster has 7 goals and 8 assists to his name, mainly from central midfield, which is an outstanding return at this stage of his career.
